Tenerife Flights from the UK

There are two airports in Tenerife, one in the north of the island and one in the south of the island. The airport you choose will depend on what resort or area of Tenerife you wish to stay in.

The majority of Tenerife flights from the United Kingdom fly to Tenerife Sur Reina Sofia Airport which is located in the south of the island. If your chosen resort is in the northern part of the island you should select Tenerife Norte airport.

If you were travelling to the popular holiday destinations such as Playa de Las Americas or Los Cristianos your Tenerife flight would be into Tenerife south airport. The most popular holiday destination in the north of the island is Puerto de la Cruz.

Playa de Las Americas is the most commercialized resort in the island and offers more bars, restaurants and nightlife than any other resort on the island. As a result this area tends to attract a younger visitor in comparison especially with the most popular resort in the north of the island, Puerto de La Cruz. The weather in the north of the island is not a reliable as the weather in the south and can be changeable. Puerto de La Cruz is a more popular resort with older visitors to the island who are not just looking for a tan.

The south of Tenerife has better beaches than the ones in the north of the island which is another reason families prefer to travel to the south of the island. Here there is even an artificial beach built with sand from the Sahara. Flying times from the UK for Tenerife flights vary from four to just over five hours depending on which part of the UK you are flying from.

The choice of destination in Tenerife will also depend on the availability of flights from your departure airport. There are a lot less Tenerife flights flying to the north of the island. You will find Tenerife charter flights to Tenerife Sur Reina Sofia Airport in the south of the island from most UK and main European airports.

There should be no problem for you finding a great range of accommodation whatever part of the island you pick. There are villas, self catering apartments and hotels ranging from two to five star properties all over the island.
